Were you in a high school rock band? I was...and here's our second concert presented in its entirety, along with our "hit single," some early stuff, and a bunch of sound bytes of accidents for color.
The year was 1991, and after watching "Spinal Tap" 100 times, we decided the most rock and roll thing we could do would be to start a rock and roll band. We had no mission; we had no grand idea; we had no guitar player; we just had high-school drug-free passion. And we got pretty good by high-school standards, writing original songs instead of relying on covers. We even made a video for our hit single, Bigg Vannz, which won the homecoming film festival in 1991. Then we got invited to perform at a benefit for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, found a special guest guitarist, and here are the results. Makes me think of that Neil Young song "Buffalo Springfield Again": "Like to see those guys again/and give it a shot/Maybe now we could show the world/what we got."
The songs are interesting, anyway. Songs about kids choking on toys, high school rejection, the large questions of war, a bad Cure cover, and probably the only instance you'll hear "Backed into a basketball hoop...it's got a 20 degree list to port" on record.
