"This is the most personal project I've ever finished. In July of 2002, my wife and I found out we were going to have a baby. The next nine months were a whirlwind, very much a blur to me now. My wife had given me a new guitar, a wonderful Epiphone, as 'one last foolish expenditure' before we became parents. I couldn't put it down! Each month things got a little crazier, but each month I also managed to steal away to different locales and record some acoustic guitar improvisations on a little microcassette recorder while meditating on the idea of being a father, of being a parent, of having a little child. While assembling the record, I added layers of the previous months' improvisations on top of the current month to show how our daughter was gaining new layers and her parents were gaining more crazy ugly beauty. This is low-fi by design, an attempt to experience what things might sound like from the womb. Normally I hate spoonfed symbolisim, but with this album I feel it might be easier to get with if you know what I was going for." -Joezef K
